Nappies: the right fit is the one that stays dry without rubbing

A good nappy keeps moisture away from the skin and fits well enough that rubbing and leaks do not become daily problems. In practice, size and shape matter more than many families expect. If a nappy leaks, slips, or leaves clear marks, the issue is often fit rather than the baby's skin alone.

The most useful comparison points are absorbency, softness, fastening, and how the nappy sits through sleep, movement, and longer outings. Some families prefer a lighter daytime option and a more absorbent night nappy, especially when sleep is easily disturbed by leaks. The right choice is the one that fits into the routine without drawing attention all day.

As babies grow, nappy fit needs to be reviewed again. A size that worked a month ago may suddenly become too tight or too short, especially during growth spurts. If the skin is sensitive, soft materials and fragrance-free routines can help reduce irritation, but good fit still does most of the work.
