Therapeutic devices are usually chosen for short-term comfort, not as a stand-alone answer to pain. Heat pads, cold packs, massage devices and TENS units each suit a different kind of symptom, so the useful question is what the body is actually asking for.
Heat is often preferred for stiffness, tension and muscles that feel tight after sitting or sleeping badly. Cold is more often used soon after a strain, bump or swelling. For some people, massage or electrical stimulation can make a sore area feel easier to manage for a while, but the effect is individual and the fit matters more than the brand or the look of the device.
In Finland, it is sensible to pause if pain is strong, keeps returning, follows a clear injury, or comes with numbness, weakness or visible swelling. In those situations, a device can support comfort, but it should not replace assessment.
