Headache is common, but the useful self-care choice depends on what kind of headache it is. A familiar tension-type ache after a long day, a headache with fever, and a migraine-like attack are not the same situation even if all of them make ordinary tasks harder.
For occasional familiar headache, many people compare a small number of general pain medicine options and focus on which one fits their stomach, other medicines, and daily routine. That is sensible as long as the pattern really is familiar. A new kind of headache, a sharp change in intensity, or repeated need for medicine points away from simple shelf comparison.
Frequency matters as much as intensity. If a pain medicine is needed again and again, the headache itself needs more attention. Repeated use can keep the cycle going, and combination products may duplicate an active substance without it being obvious at first glance.
Seek care urgently if headache is sudden and severe, follows a head injury, or comes with fever, neck stiffness, vision change, weakness, numbness, or confusion. For symptom-based reading, see Morning headache.
