A multivitamin can be practical when eating is irregular or the diet has stayed narrow for a while. It may help keep the routine simple, but it does not replace normal food.
When choosing one, the main question is overlap. If you already use separate vitamin D or another nutrient, adding a multivitamin can duplicate what is already there.
Some men's multivitamins contain little or no iron, which is fine for many people. If you have a diagnosed deficiency or a specific medical reason for a different formula, it is better to check suitability first.
If the product causes stomach upset, taking it with food or switching to a milder formula may help.
