Krill oil sits in the crustacean-derived branch of omega-3 products. In practice, the first comparison point is still the actual EPA and DHA amount in the recommended daily serving.

People often look at krill oil when they want an alternative to standard fish oil. The useful differences are usually the raw material, capsule format, and how clearly the label separates omega-3 content from the rest of the composition.

This category works best when the source itself matters to the buyer. If the pack tells a broad story about krill but gives only limited daily-dose figures, the product is harder to compare with ordinary fish oil or algae oil.

Krill oil is not suitable for everyone. Anyone with shellfish allergy, medicine use, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or a procedure coming up should check suitability before adding a new food supplement.
