Pregnancy vitamins are easiest to choose when the goal stays narrow. In Finland, the clearest nutritional basics are folic acid when planning pregnancy and in early pregnancy, and a vitamin D supplement during pregnancy. The need for other supplements is more individual and should not be assumed just because a product is labelled for pregnancy.

This is why the ingredient list matters more than the word multivitamin. A product may be useful if it helps cover the basic recommendation, but it should not quietly duplicate what you already take from another supplement. Iron is a good example. Some people need it, but not everyone benefits from adding it routinely without considering blood values and overall intake.

Vitamin A deserves extra care. Pregnancy is not the time for casual overlap between several supplements, liver-based products, and fortified products if the combined intake is unclear. A simpler routine is usually safer and easier to follow.

Seek advice from the maternity clinic or another healthcare professional if eating is limited for a longer time, nausea makes supplements hard to tolerate, or you are unsure whether you need iron, iodine, or another nutrient in addition to the basic pregnancy recommendation.
