Interdental cleaning: an essential part of oral care

A toothbrush does not reach well between the teeth, so plaque can stay there even when brushing feels thorough. That is why interdental cleaning matters so much in everyday oral care.

The right tool depends on the space between the teeth. Floss usually suits tight spaces, while interdental brushes are often easier and more effective where there is a little more room.

It is normal for gums to bleed a little at first if they are already irritated. Gentle daily cleaning usually helps that settle over time, as long as the tool fits the space and is not forced.

Bridges, implants, braces, and dentures may need a specific tool or size. If the cleaning hurts sharply or the gums keep bleeding, the fit of the tool should be checked rather than ignored.
